We look forward to delivering exceptional care and a great member experience to all our new and existing members. Building on HealthPartners successes in 2007 we plan to work to deliver an even better experience in 2008.

- Overall health plan satisfaction scores rose from 62.2 percent to 68.6 percent in 2007 in our Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) scores.
- For the third year in a row, we were the only Minnesota health plan ranked in the top 50 in the U.S. News and World Report/NCQA Best Health Plans report.
- National Committee for Quality Assurance “Excellent” accreditation status, seven years in a row.

We appreciate your partnership in achieving this record growth. It’s a great to start 2008 in such a strong position. We look forward to partnering with you over the next year to continue the momentum.
Optimizing the health of members with heart disease and diabetes
Chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes, are among the most prevalent, costly and preventable of all health problems. Your employees deserve health care customized to their specific needs, which is why HealthPartners offers a unique approach to Disease Management.
First, we use claims analysis and our award-winning health assessment to identify members with these conditions. Then we reach out to every individual who is at risk. These members receive a mailed packet detailing the integrated programs and services that can help them manage their condition and get healthier.
In order to best fit every member’s needs, we stratify members from low to high severity. This helps us provide targeted, actionable intervention tailored to fit each member’s needs. We contact members with moderate to severe risk by phone and invite them to participate in programs best for their conditions.
Last year, HealthPartners engaged 13,589 members whom we identified as having coronary artery disease (CAD), diabetes or both CAD and diabetes. Of those, most members chose to enroll in programs:
- CAD: 69 percent
- Diabetes: 74 percent
- CAD and diabetes: 79 percent
Plus, member satisfaction with HealthPartners Disease Management programs ranges from 85-95 percent.

Employees benefit from HealthPartners Healthy Pregnancy program
HealthPartners Healthy Pregnancy program is now available to help your employees who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy turn their great expectations into a healthy baby.
When expectant mothers live a healthy lifestyle, they improve their chances of delivering a healthy baby. While there is never a guarantee that a baby will be perfectly healthy, certain behaviors can help a baby have the best chance at a healthy start. Plus, early identification of potential risks can be critical to a healthy delivery and healthy baby.
With HealthPartners Healthy Pregnancy program, employees who are planning a pregnancy have access to a health assessment tailored to them and ten e-mails about preparing for a pregnancy.
Your employees who are currently pregnant will receive:
- An online, confidential pregnancy health assessment that identifies any risks for a difficult pregnancy
- Twenty, bi-weekly e-mail newsletters tailored to a specific stage of pregnancy
- Personalized phone coaching from a registered nurse if an employee is identified as at risk for a difficult pregnancy
The Healthy Pregnancy program is included for fully-insured groups and available for purchase by self-insured groups. In addition, both fully-insured and self-insured groups may add an incentive strategy and a customizable communications toolkit to the Healthy Pregnancy program for an additional fee. If you have any questions, please contact your HealthPartners sales executive or your broker.
ZyrtecŪ goes over-the-counter
Original strength Zyrtec® no longer requires a prescription!
HealthPartners is encouraging members to use Zyrtec® over-the-counter, rather than switch to an alternative prescription allergy medication. This will reduce out-of-pocket expenses for employees and utilization for employers.
Members currently receiving prescription Zyrtec® were notified of this change and mailed a $5 coupon towards the purchase of over-the-counter Zyrtec® last month. The coupon can be presented at any retail store or pharmacy where over-the-counter medications are available.
Please contact your HealthPartners sales executive or your broker with any questions.
