New National Dental Plan Delivers More
This fall, we’re expanding our dental network to include more than 33,000 dental care providers at 72,000 locations nationwide. For your clients, that means more access to more providers – regardless of which HealthPartners dental plan they choose.
Employers and their employees will get the same great service they’ve come to expect from HealthPartners – simple plan administration, superior customer support and fast, accurate claims processing. Plus, your clients will benefit from lower claims costs, while their employees enjoy lower out-of-pocket expenses via our competitive provider discounts. The only change is a bigger, better provider network. That’s a great value for everyone!
The bottom line is that as of September 1, 2007, only HealthPartners can help you deliver Minnesota’s largest PPO network and 33,000 providers nationwide to your clients.

July Small Group Changes
As you prepare for July renewals, here’s what you need to know about our small group product portfolio:
- Small group rates for Minnesota and Wisconsin are finalized and available in Internet Advantage. For Wisconsin rates contact your sales representative.
- Due to Minnesota small group plan factor changes for July 2007, the small group and EZ plan factors no longer identical. Our plan price guides are being updated to reflect these changes and will be distributed in May.
- Small group renewals for July 1, 2007, were sent out on April 16, 2007.
- We have received contract approval from all agencies except the Minnesota Department of Commerce, which oversees our Minnesota insurance contracts. While this is a routine filing and they still have time to respond, we have flagged all appropriate materials to indicate pending regulatory approval where necessary. This includes the small group summaries of benefits and benefit comparisons.

Regions Hospital at the Heart of Good Care
According to a new report from The Joint Commission, your clients are in good hands at HealthPartners Regions Hospital. The report, called Improving America’s Hospitals: a Report on Quality and Safety, analyzes performance data from more than 3,000 hospitals nationwide that are accredited by The Joint Commission. The results show that out of 16 major hospitals in the Twin Cities, patients suffering heart attacks and heart failure receive among the highest quality care at Regions Hospital.
Hospitals reported how many patients received 15 individual quality measures for the treatment of heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia from 2002 through 2005. Regions provides four of The Joint Commission-recommended evidence-based heart failure treatments, such as a test to evaluate heart function, approximately 90 percent of the time compared to the national rate of 76 percent. For heart attack care, Regions Hospital provides eight evidence-based heart attack treatments, such as medications to prevent heart failure, nearly 100 percent of the time compared to the national average of 90 percent.
The Joint Commission is an independent, non-profit organization that sets the standards by which health care quality is measured in America and around the world.
