What Can the Three for Free Plan do for your Clients?
Our claims data shows that 75% of employees visit the doctor three times per year or less. That’s why both your client’s and their employees will love the new Three for Free Plan.
With a price point 7% to 22% below our HRA base plan, the Three for Free Plan lets employers save on premium, while employees enjoy three free office or urgent care visits per family member, per year.
For off-cycle effective dates, your clients will get even more for their health care dollar. Let’s say your client purchases Three for Free effective August 1, 2007, with calendar year benefit administration. Here’s how their plan would work:
- August 1, 2007: the members get their "allowance" of three free visits
- January 1, 2008: the visit meters reset and members get a new "allowance" of three free visits
- January 1, 2009: the visit meters reset - members get a new "allowance" of three free visits
A Closer Look at the Three for Free Plan
With virtually no employer administration, employees will enjoy the advantages of an HRA-type plan with a “virtual” bank account of three free office visits – that HealthPartners pays for! With this plan, each family member gets:
- Full preventive care coverage
- Three free office visits or urgent care visits per year, per family member — that’s a potential savings of more than $300 annually!
- Pharmacy copays of $12 generic, $35 preferred and $50 non-preferred
The Three for Free Plan features a variety of benefits to please both your clients and their employees. Review

New National Dental Network Goes Live
The implementation of the new HealthPartners national dental network went live July 1, 2007 – two full months ahead of schedule!
The expanded network includes 33,000 providers at more than 74,000 locations. But how do we really stack up against the competition? Actually, extremely well. The HealthPartners national dental network is comparable in size to two of the most commonly quoted dental networks in Minnesota – Delta and Guardian. Delta’s PPO network reportedly has 78,000 locations and Guardian’s has 70,000, so our offering of 74,000 nationwide locations is right in line with both of them. Plus, our plan designs continue to offer the same great flexibility.
Your clients will benefit from lower claims costs and their employees benefit from lower out-of-pocket costs through HealthPartners’ competitive network discounts across the nation. And that means a great value for everyone!

HealthPartners Research Foundation received a $1.75 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study ways to help people maintain weight loss over the long-term. The study focuses on helping adults who have lost 10% of their body weight in the past year, maintain their new, healthier weight.
Keep It Off will be testing two different programs for helping adults who have lost weight to keep it off over the long-term. The self-directed program provides participants with a course book on maintaining weight loss and two phone sessions with a personal coach. The guided program features more frequent phone sessions with a personal coach and weekly reporting of weight to monitor and reverse small weight gain, in addition to the course book.
